Strong Showing for the 54th Annual West Indian Social Club Scholarship Pageant

Our 54th scholarships awards program has come to a close. This year was an amazing year. In addition to our sole winner of the Young Men’s Memorial Scholarship, we had a group of six amazing contestants vying for the title of Miss West Indian Social Club. This year featured a dynamic group of young people who are on track to be our next generation of leaders. From doctors educators, scientist, attorneys, to entrepreneurs, politicians, and possibly the future US president. We had a total of seven contestants. Six young women, and a sole entrant for the Young Men’s Memorial Scholarship.

We are pleased to introduce our two first place winners, Mr. Brandon Stewart and Miss Sydney Barnwell, sponsored by Collins Tax and Accounting Services; our second place winner, Miss Brittany Nelson, sponsored by the Dorman Law Firm, and our third place winner, Miss Gabrielle Legall, sponsored by Sister’s Restaurant.

The production was hosted by Miss Universe St. Lucia 2011, Joy Ann Biscette. This year’s theme featured a tasteful display of African themed décor. The superb lighting provided by DJ Stardon added an ambiance to the event like no other. The guests in both the VIP and general audience enjoyed the entire production as the contestants displayed their talents before the audience of approximately 250 individuals.

Special thanks to all members of the committee, our sponsors, members of the club who assisted with the event, supporting organizations, individuals in the community who supported the event, our contestants, and finally, their wonderful families and friends for all the love and support they provided to these exceptional scholars.

Please continue to support the endeavors of the Education Committee as we work towards providing enriching programs for the community.
